I plan to purchase a couple more inserts for dado work and to keep one on as my everyday insert. I clamped the piece of wood to my fence and locked it down over the insert so the blade came through about 1/2" from the fence face and that worked great. Since my saw is fitted with a custom outfeed table its not possible to clamp something down over the insert. Only problem I had was the instructions say to clamp a piece of wood over the insert when you bring the blade up through it the first time. I was a bit skeptical of the tension screw but it works fine, snug and secure. Rite out of the package I could tell it was the answer. I, like many other owners of the Craftsman #21833, have contemplated making my own insert but was also concerned about safety.
